CPR training
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Outline
Scene assessment & management
Recognition of life threatening conditions & response
Accessing emergency services (EMS) and convey incident details
Casualty assessment
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation for Adult, Child & Infant
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs)
Management of an unconscious breathing casualty
Convey incident details to emergency service.
Entry Requirements
It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
NO EXCEPTIONS
Appropriate clothing will need to be considered due to the nature of practical assessment.
For competency to be achieved, students must meet the benchmark of the assessment/evidence criteria for the units of competency listed in the training package on: training.gov.au.
Delivery
Face-to-face in a small group training environment.
Awards Issued
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Statement of Attainment for:
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Recertification Requirements
Under the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, it is recommended that those trained in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation refresh their skills every 12 months in line with industry standards.
