Get started in tourism
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of tourism operational skills and basic industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in many tourism and travel industry sectors and for a diverse range of employers including travel agencies, tour wholesalers, tour operators, attractions, cultural and heritage sites, and any small tourism business.
Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of tourism and travel products and services takes place, in the field where products are delivered, or a combination of both.

Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however Far North Training & Consultancy has the following selection criteria for this course. The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.
Delivery
Program delivery can be face to face in a small group training environment located in Mossman. For participants under contract with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre and an Employer, delivery of training will be in the workplace.
Licensing requirements
There are no licensing requirements for this qualification.
Award Issued
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Qualification:
SIT20122 — Certificate II in Tourism.
Recommended Requirements
This course requires students to undertake several service periods in a tourism environment as part of their course, therefore transport to the work placement is required. Students will also need suitable attire, white polo shirt, black shorts and enclosed black shoes.
Duration
Program duration for a full time student is an average of 6–12 months. Some students may complete the course in a shorter time frame.
Location
The program can be delivered at Far North Training & Consultancy at 11 Johnston Rd, Mossman. For participants under contract with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre and an Employer, delivery of training will be in the workplace.

This course is offered fee for service. Payment plans are available.
