First aid in a care setting

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children as well as adults and specifically applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting. This unit of competency satisfies the requirement set for approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training for child carers and educators.

Recommended for:

  • Teachers and education support staff;

  • Child carers; and

  • Babysitters.

PLEASE NOTE THAT MANDATORY PRE-COURSE MODULES MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ANY FIRST AID ATTENDANCE.

FIRST AID Pre-course has 13 modules please allow up to 3 hours to completed.

Outline

  • Respond to an emergency situation.

  • Apply appropriate emergency first aid procedures.

  • Communicate details of the incident.

  • Review the incident.

Entry Requirements

  • It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult CPR manikin placed on the floor.

  • It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing CPR for at least 2 minutes on a child CPR manikin placed on the floor.

  • Appropriate clothing will need to be considered due to the nature of practical assessment.

Delivery

Face-to-face in a small group training environment.

Awards Issued

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Statement of Attainment for:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

Recertification Requirements

It is recommended HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting, be renewed every 3 years in line with industry standard, (HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, be renewed every 12 months in line with industry standards).

Duration

  • Pre-course study (online learning link supplied by Webmaster at Everyday First Aid @$15 this cost is included in training, but will not be refunded if you cancel or change your mind) Must have a email address, computer or tablet. MOBILE PHONES are not supported.

  • 6 Hours face-to-face practical training.*

*Duration may vary depending on group bookings.
