Aim

Provide First aid will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to administer first aid to a casualty who has sustained an injury or illness, until the arrival of professional medical help.

Theory and concepts of first aid are covered in the course, but there will also be a strong focus on the various practical skills needed to administer first aid.

A workbook manual is given to the student prior to attending the course, to allow the student to complete the theory at their own pace. This may also be completed online via a live link sent from your trainer. The one day training therefore has a ‘hands on approach’ to applying first aid.

Outcome

The student will obtain a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in HLTAID003 Provide First Aid. It is recommended this unit be renewed every 3 years in line with industry standards.

The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation component, which is covered in the Provide First Aid course, should be updated every 12 months to maintain competency in the skills required in an emergency situation.
