Advanced Resuscitation

About this course

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory.

Target Audience

Existing workers in this industry who may require advanced first aid training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council.


There are no prerequisites for this course

Entry Requirements

It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.

Award Issued

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Statement of Attainment for:
HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation
HLTAID001 Perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation



Course Duration

Initial Course:  Mixed Mode – Completion of CPR pre-course study plus 6 hours practical training.

Refresher Course:  Mixed Mode –  Completion of CPR pre-course study plus 4 hours practical training  and you must supply a copy of your current certificate.

NB: Program duration may vary depending on group bookings.

Important Information regarding course durations

Course durations, as mentioned above, are reflective of group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. If there are less students in a group, you may find course duration reduced by a maximum of 10%.

Recertification Requirements

It is recommended this unit be renewed every 12 months in line with industry standards.
