About this course

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children as well as adults and specifically applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting. This unit of competency satisfies the requirement set for approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training for child carers and educators.
Recommended for:
• Teachers and education support staff who require approved asthma and anaphylaxis training for their work;
• Child carers; and
• Baby-sitters.

Entry Requirements

It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor. Appropriate clothing will need to be considered due to the nature of practical assessment.


Program delivery is face to face in a small group training environment.


This course is 8 hours face-to-face practical training with pre-course study (online or in workbook provided by Far North Training upon enrolment).

Recertification Requirements

It is recommended HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting, be renewed every 3 years in line with industry standard, (HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation,  be renewed every 12 months in line with industry standards).
