This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauticians to provide a range of beauty services including nail, waxing, lash and brow, and basic make-up services.
These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where discretion and judgement is required and are responsible for their own outputs. This includes client consultation on beauty products and services.
Work is typically conducted in beauty, waxing, brow, nail salons and spas.
Students successfully completing all the listed competencies will achieve Certificate III in Beauty Services. Students who successfully achieve some of the listed competencies will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units that they have demonstrated competency.
Upon successful completion participants will be qualified to seek employment in a range of environments including but not limited to:
- Beauty salons
- Waxing salons
- Cosmetic counters
- Nail bars
- Brow bars
There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however FNTC has the following selection criteria for this course. The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.
This program is offered by face to face delivery mode. Up to 12 months is allowed for a full time student, however some students may complete the course in less time.

Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL)
If you are currently working in a Resort or Beauty Services facility then you may be entitled to Recognition of Prior Learning. RPL is a nationally recognised process which helps you gain credit towards a certificate based on the skills and experience you have gained from:
- Previous learning
- Work or industry experience (paid or unpaid)
- Partially completed studies
Your experience is matched to current industry qualifications so you may gain credit towards or even recognition for a full qualification.
