Aim

This course is designed for individuals who need skills to prepare for a vocational pathway qualification or further foundation studies development.

It is suitable for those individuals who require a:

  • Prevocational pathway to employment and vocational training
  • Reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level 3
  • Entry level digital technology and employability skills
  • Education, training and employment goals

Outcome

Students successfully completing all the listed competencies will achieve Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, FSK20113. Students who achieve some of the listed competencies will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units that they have demonstrated competency.

Career Opportunities

Upon successful completion, participants will have a prevocational pathway to employment and vocational training. Reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills will have attained a Level 3 standard in accordance with Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Entry level digital technology skills and employability skills will also be achieved and education, training and employment goals identified.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however it is recommended for participants to have level 2 ACSF across all core skills. Far North Training & Consultancy also has the following selection criteria for this course – The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.

 

Learning Support

All learners have access to a qualified trainer/assessor. At orientation participants will be provided with information they need to transition successfully into their chosen course of study. Trainers will also advise students of support services available.

How to Apply

Students must complete an enrolment form and return to Far North Training & Consultancy with appropriate documentation.

Face to face classes in Mossman, Cairns and surrounds with flexible delivery options also available.

If you are currently working in an IT or office setting then you may be entitled to Recognition of Prior Learning. RPL is a nationally recognised process which helps you gain credit towards a certificate based on the skills and experience you have gained from:

  • Previous learning
  • Work or industry experience (paid or unpaid)
  • Volunteering
  • Partially completed studies

Your experience is matched to current industry qualifications so you can gain credit towards or even recognition for a full qualification.
