Certificate II in Salon Assistant

About this course

This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance with client services. These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.

It incorporates a large variety of theory and practical skills giving students a fantastic head start when applying for apprenticeships.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however Far North Training & Consultancy has the following selection criteria for this course. The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.

Delivery

Program delivery can be face to face in a small group training environment located in Mossman. Or for participants under contract with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre and an employer, delivery of training will be in the workplace.

Duration

Program duration for a full time student is an average of 12 months. Some students may complete the in a shorter time frame.

Location

The program can be delivered at Far North Training & Consultancy in the Enhanced Beauty room at 11 Johnston Rd, Mossman.  Or on-site at each individual employer’s venue in Far North Queensland.

Award Issued

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Qualification SHB20216 – Certificate II in Salon Assistant

Students must wear closed in shoes. Students are required to purchase additional equipment. Contact our friendly staff for the student equipment price list.
