About this course

This qualification reflects the role of retail sales personnel involved in a defined range of tasks to sell and demonstrate beauty or cosmetic products. They follow known routines and procedures and work under direct supervision.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a retail sales consultant in any business that sells beauty or cosmetic products and services. This can include beauty and hairdressing salons, retail outlets and department stores.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however Far North Training & Consultancy has the following selection criteria for this course. The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program. Students must also wear closed in black shoes.


Program delivery can be face to face in a small group training environment located in Mossman. For participants under contract with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre and an employer, delivery of training will be in the workplace.


Program duration for a full time student is an average of 12 months. Some students may complete the course in a shorter time frame.


The program can be delivered at Far North Training & Consultancy in the Enhanced Beauty salon at 11 Johnston Rd, Mossman, or on-site at each individual employer’s venue in Far North Queensland.

Award Issued

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Qualification SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics
